Reasons behind foot pain and how to overcome it

The foot is one of the most important external body parts. It’s the first thing that moves during the walking process and therefore the part that ‘absorbs’ all the body weight when walking. Specifically, feet give stability, balance, grip and strength to walk and run and shock absorption so the rest of the body is not stressed out while walking. Moreover, each foot has a network of more than 100 tendons and there are over 7000 nerve endings connected to the nerves of the whole body. Consequently, even the most minor pain in the foot usually feels distressing and causes increased discomfort.

Foot pain is usually caused by rigorous workouts, long days on your feet, unexpected injuries while walking, inappropriate footwear and general overuse.

The most common conditions causing foot pain are:

  • Pain in the ball of the foot combined with inflammation at the part below the toes (metatarsalgia)
  • Pain in the heel combined with irritation or inflammation of the band of tough tissue connecting the heel bone to the toes (plantar fasciitis)
  • Deep bruise of the fat pad of the heel or ball of the feet (stone bruise)
  • Toe pain caused by arthritis

Most of the times these conditions are not serious, however, because resting the feet is difficult the pain can go on for long periods and get worse and worse. For that reason, it is important to treat any type of foot pain immediately.

That is why Theraband has created Foot Roller, a tool specifically developed to massage the foot area and treat foot pain. The TheraBand Foot Roller is an at-home treatment solution great for everyday pain relief. It combines stretching, massage, and cold therapy to effectively help rehabilitate feet and alleviate discomfort and soreness. The foot roller is compact and portable, making on-the-go foot therapy easier!

For cold therapy just place the foot roller in the fridge or refrigerator and then proceed with the foot massage and stretches using the ‘frozen’ foot roller. For maximised results, apply the topical analgesic Biofreeze immediately before using the foot roller. This will help relieve pain more effectively. This is because the menthol-based formula of Biofreeze will offer a deeper and longer-lasting effect on the affected area.
